DE203 - Understanding Differences between the Use of Field Controls and Web Parts in Office SharePoint Server Publishing Sites
 » April 6, 2009 @ 2:45p - 4:00p
Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Publishing sites provide two vehicles for content authors and owners to enter and edit content in publishing pages: field controls and Web Parts. One of the most common issues reported can be rooted back to the selection and fundamental understanding of field controls and Web parts by the developers and designers of the site. In this session you will walk away with a firm understanding of the low-level architectural differences between field controls and Web Parts and know when to use one over the other so you can implement a SharePoint site avoiding this common pitfall. In addition you will learn how to fix a site that has fallen into this common problem.
