The next version of CMS, known as Web Content Managment, seems to have been a bit overshadowed by most of the talk & news coming out regarding SharePoint Server 2007. However, while in Redmond last week at the Office Developer Converence, I couldn’t help to notice how full the WCM sessions were! On the last day of the conference there were three sessions back to back in the second biggest presentation room and all were quite full! I wasn’t the only one who noticed, Ryan Rogers did as well.

I think we’ll start to see this change over the course of the next few months leading up to beta 2 later in Q2 and RTM later this year not to mention at TechEd in Boston in June. Once people have had more time to see more of WCM in SharePoint Server 2007, I think we’ll see many more Internet facing sites utilizing it.

One way this is starting is with a MSDN live webcast in April I’ll be presenting on Web Content Management. I’m looking forward to this as I’m not only pumped up about WCM in MOSS, but it’s also my first MSDN webcast. Of course, as a first time presenter, I wouldn’t be surprised if I had a hicup or two, but for those who are concerned about the quality of the presentation, I promise to offer a full refund if you aren’t satisfied (hehe). Sign up and learn a little more about WCM in MOSS… here’s the session abstract:

The Evolution of Web Content Management in the 2007 Version of Microsoft Office (April 18, 2006; 9am PST)
The Web Content Management (WCM) technology in the upcoming 2007 version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server represents the first major release of Microsoft Content Management Server (MCMS) since 2002. This webcast looks at the major improvements WCM offers over MCMS. We discuss major design changes such as the Windows SharePoint Services-based architecture and the altered underlying storage model. Learn about new WCM concepts such as content types, field controls, workflows, and recycle bins. The presentation concludes with a look at what is involved in migrating your MCMS 2002 site to the WCM in Office SharePoint Portal Server 2007.

Gravatar Congrats on your first Webcast, webcast guy! Hey, wanted to let you know that the Register link isn't landing right. The first link is fine though. Also, we will be in Little Rock that week (the dev group). If time permits and bandwidth is good, we certainly will listen in as a group. Would it help if you visualized us all with just underwear on?!? huh? eh? Take care bro!

Gravatar We are preparing for Office 2007 and WCM 2007, but I won't be able to attend your live webcast. Will it be available for download afterwards?

Yes, the webcast should be available for download a few days after the live version. I'll post a follow up on my blog with a link where you can download it.

All Comments Are Filtered & Moderated
Unfortunately comment spammers are just too effecient and are constantly dirtying up blogs with irrelevant and unwanted comments trying to improve their standing on search engines. All comments on this blog are moderated. I do not censor comments, but I don't approve comments with vulger language or those soliciting products. Most of the time comments are approved within a few hours of being submitted with the only exception when I'm traveling.

Why are you asking for my email address?
The only reason I'm asking for your email address, which isn't required to submit a comment, is to provide a gravatar if you've created an account for yourself and associated your email address with a small image. If you have a gravatar created for the email address you submit, it will appear next to your comment. Otherwise nothing will appear.

What is a gravatar?
A gravatar is a "globally recognized avatar." You can get more information about gravatars, as well as create your own for free, at www.gravatar.com. You can also view my gravatar here.
