WSS v3 Content Types Explained: A Different Perspective

My good friend John Holliday posted the other day some thoughts on content types in Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) v3. Content types are one of those things, like Features, that aren't the easiest thing to explain to someone... especially someone unfamiliar with SharePoint. John has a unique perspective and view on content types that I think really helps nail them down for people who are unfamiliar with them. What he does is have you take a step back to see that content types aren't really a new concept... or as he says it: "I think it's interesting that whenever the paradigm shifts, we start renaming things." Ha! I love it!

Is there a way for me to migrate the content types that I created on my dev server to the staging server?

Anabhra - Yes... create them using features, then you can deploy the features to other servers.
