Managed Windows Shared Hosting

Wow... this past year has been one hell of a ride. It all started by testing myself and chasing a dream of quitting the day job to go out on my own. Looking back it was one of the best decisions I made professionally. My work life has been split up a few ways. I wrote a class on MOSS 2007 Web Content Management and teach it as both a 4-day hands-on class as well as a 5-day Live Meeting based class exclusively through the Ted Pattison Group (Ted, BTW, is one of the best people to have as a business partner). Aside from teaching I spend the rest of my time either writing (yes, the book is still coming), consulting and presenting. I've really gotten a kick out of the speaking ops I've had over the last year. Meredith and I got to visit Australia for the first time where I presented four sessions at the SharePoint Conference in Sydney. As Joel has already blogged, we climbed the Sydney Harbour Bridge which was quite a unique experience. I can't wait for my next trip down under!

That was quickly followed up by TechEd US in Orlando in June, just down the road from me, where I presented two breakout sessions plus a theatre and BoF. And just recently it was SharePoint Connections in Vegas in November.

But the coolest part of the year (aside from being your own boss)... professionally at least, has to be meeting all the new people. Not only some of you who read my blog (which is always a treat), but conference attendees, user group members... you name it. I love meeting new people and hearing about what they are working on.

Aside from work, the best part of the year has been watching my son, Steven, grow up. He's gone from talking just a little bit to the house chatterbox. He's all boy... climbing over and into everything and running around like crazy. All the sayings are a trip... just recently it's been this when it is time for bed: "ok [mommy|daddy], I'll make you a deal" and then proceeds to tell us what is going to happen. He's growing up so fast... and it's just so much fun.

All Comments Are Filtered & Moderated
Unfortunately comment spammers are just too effecient and are constantly dirtying up blogs with irrelevant and unwanted comments trying to improve their standing on search engines. All comments on this blog are moderated. I do not censor comments, but I don't approve comments with vulger language or those soliciting products. Most of the time comments are approved within a few hours of being submitted with the only exception when I'm traveling.

Why are you asking for my email address?
The only reason I'm asking for your email address, which isn't required to submit a comment, is to provide a gravatar if you've created an account for yourself and associated your email address with a small image. If you have a gravatar created for the email address you submit, it will appear next to your comment. Otherwise nothing will appear.

What is a gravatar?
A gravatar is a "globally recognized avatar." You can get more information about gravatars, as well as create your own for free, at www.gravatar.com. You can also view my gravatar here.
