Looking for some free SharePoint training? Tomorrow is your day! The SharePoint in Action (formerly SharePoint Pro Live) virtual conference is May 13, 2008 from 11 AM - 4 PM EDT (GMT -0500). I'll be presenting with a handful of other SharePoint professionals on various topics (all times EDT):

  • 11:00 AM - 12:15 PM :: Unleash the Productivity: Microsoft Office Applications as SharePoint Clients by Dan Holme
  • 1:45 PM - 2:45 PM :: Building Advanced Web Parts for SharePoint 3.0 the ASP.NET 2.0 Way by Andrew Connell
  • 2:00 PM - 3:15 PM :: Enterprise Search with SharePoint Server by Melissa Fraser

Again, the price point can't be beat... this is a FREE conference!

Gravatar Shame it is so early (4 AM New Zealand Time). Always interested in new material for my training sessions.

Gravatar +1 from NZ
Can you plead with the organisers to have it recorded and available later on

Cheers

Gravatar I won't be able to attend.

Please please record it and make it available later.

Thanks,

The conference site records the sessions... you can go there to see a recording.

Gravatar AC. By conference site do you just mean they make it available somewhere on the same site at a later date? I'd be very much interested in learning from your good self.

Gravatar I just wanted to let you know that I "attended" the training and really enjoyed your presentation. While I don't really know from C (let alone C#), what little I do know, combined with a lot of VB and a smattering of ASP enabled me to be able to get the gist of what you were talking about.

It wasn't clear when they would be posting the presentations "on demand", and the site does claim that they will be available at some point. I'm looking forward to that as I had technical and administrative hurdles that prevented me from joining ANY of the presentations when they first started, including yours.

I really appreciate that you're providing such wonderful, useful content. For various reasons, I'm in the situation of needing to start climbing the learning curve for SharePoint, and I'm sure your blog/site will be helpful in that endeavor.

Thanks.

Gravatar In respect to the editors, do you think there is a way to have the value in one property depend on the value of another? For example, you might want to be able to select a list from a dropdown of all lists then select a view associated with that list.

Thanks for the interesting demonstration.

Gravatar As a follow-up, if you have several properties grouped together usually by defining the SPWebCategoryName attribute on the property, is there any way to get a custom editor part to show up in the same section as other custom properties without special editors? Thanks.

Gravatar Lori-
You can't merge your custom editor parts into the OOTB ones... each editor part is an individual entity. But you can have one Web control be dependent on another control either using AJAX or standard .NET postbacks.

All Comments Are Filtered & Moderated
Unfortunately comment spammers are just too effecient and are constantly dirtying up blogs with irrelevant and unwanted comments trying to improve their standing on search engines. All comments on this blog are moderated. I do not censor comments, but I don't approve comments with vulger language or those soliciting products. Most of the time comments are approved within a few hours of being submitted with the only exception when I'm traveling.

Why are you asking for my email address?
The only reason I'm asking for your email address, which isn't required to submit a comment, is to provide a gravatar if you've created an account for yourself and associated your email address with a small image. If you have a gravatar created for the email address you submit, it will appear next to your comment. Otherwise nothing will appear.

What is a gravatar?
A gravatar is a "globally recognized avatar." You can get more information about gravatars, as well as create your own for free, at www.gravatar.com. You can also view my gravatar here.
