Are you an ASP.NET developer who's been curious about this whole SharePoint thing? What's it all about? How can you just test the waters without diving in and buying a bunch of books or booking travel to the next greatest training class?

Well, this post is for you!

Microsoft is doing a lot of things to address people just like you! My colleague (aka: partner in crime & fellow SharePoint MVP) Rob Bogue and I have been working with Paul Andrew and others @ Microsoft to come up with a list of 10 of the most popular and core concepts in SharePoint. Starting next week and going for five weeks we'll present two of these topics as an MSDN webcast. It's real easy to keep track of these... they are every Tuesday & Wednesday from 12p-1p EDT (GMT -0500) starting next week for the next five weeks. Here's a break down of the schedule:

Date (all times EDT) Topic & Registration URL Presenter
Tues, May 20 : 12-1p Web Parts Rob Bogue
Wed, May 21 : 12-1p Data Lists Rob Bogue
Tues, May 27 : 12-1p Silverlight AC
Wed, May 28 : 12-1p Event Handlers AC
Tues, June 3 : 12-1p Site Branding AC
Wed, June 4 : 12-1p Workflow Rob Bogue
Tues, June 10 : 12-1p Web Services AC
Wed, June 11 : 12-1p Page Navigation AC
Tues, June 17 : 12-1p User Management Rob Bogue
Wed, June 18 : 12-1p Content Types Rob Bogue

This little campaign is targeted to those of you who are ASP.NET 2.0 developers with little to zero experience with SharePoint. We're talking the core SharePoint engine too... Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 (WSS)... no MOSS 2007 here. All the webcasts will be recorded and available for future viewing in case you can't make the live event.

Gravatar Shouldn't there be a topic for administration? It may not be a core developer concept but a newbie certainly wouldn't be able to find his way around these concepts at start.

The target audience is developers, not admins.

Gravatar Page error when browsing to the event link.

"An unknown error occurred while processing your request. This is most likely due to a connection failure. Please try again."

Yeah, they are aware the registration site is down and are working to fix it. All I can say is try again later.

Gravatar Web Parts cast.

I tried commenting on Robs blog but got an error posting.

Any idea why when Rob is demoing in Visual Studio throughout the cast the VS window seems to be only one quarter of the available video size? When in view of the slides all 100% of the video space is used (I only mention because it's almost impossible to see the demo). Could you maybe pass on this message? Thanks AC.

Gravatar I downloaded the a few of the webcasts, but cannot view them. I have a scrolling error at the bottom of the screen saying the buffer size isn't big enough... and audio issues as well. Any ideas?

Sorry you're having issues. If you do the high fidelity version, you'll get a much better experience. If you are having technical issues, all I can do is point you to the Live Meeting support as I don't have any control over that piece :(

Unfortunately comment spammers are just too effecient and are constantly dirtying up blogs with irrelevant and unwanted comments trying to improve their standing on search engines. All comments on this blog are moderated. I do not censor comments, but I don't approve comments with vulger language or those soliciting products. Why are you asking for my email address?
The only reason I'm asking for your email address, which isn't required to submit a comment, is to provide a gravatar if you've created an account for yourself and associated your email address with a small image. If you have a gravatar created for the email address you submit, it will appear next to your comment. Otherwise nothing will appear.
