Managed Windows Shared Hosting

[via SP Content & Resources Blog]

Microsoft just posted an update of the WSS 3.0 & MOSS 2008 2007 SDKs. As always they come in two flavors, online & downloadable offline CHMs:

This update has some great new and updated content:

  • Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 - new content
    • NEW: Programmatically working with backup/restore
    • UPDATED: to the Web Parts section
    • NEW: Externally storing BLOBs in WSS (storing data on the disk vs. doc library... make sure you read the Operational Limits & Trade-Off Analysis paper... IMHO, this capability should be used in only the most extreme circumstances as it adds a significant amount of complexity to your deployment)
    • NEW: section on Selective Content Migration (sweet!!!)
  • Office SharePoint Server 2008 - new content
    • NEW: Federated Search ... LOTS of content here

Gravatar Are you really calling this MOSS 2008 (??) as you mention here in the first sentence and in the list of updated content?

Gravatar My bad... I didn't mean to say 2008 :)

# re: SharePoint (WSS 3.0 & MOSS 2007) SDK Updated August 2008 (v1.4) 9/4/2008 9:02 PM Shaun Phillips
Gravatar I was trying to install the infrastructure update for MOSS which was sent out in July. However, I am getting the error

"There are no products affected by this package installer on this system"
and installer quits.

The weird thing was I was able to install them in QA enivronment, but when I try it in Prod farm I am getting the error. The noticeble difference between the farms was Office Sharepoint Server 2007 SDK and Office 2007 Sharepoint designer SP1.

I never seen this error before.

All Comments Are Filtered & Moderated
Unfortunately comment spammers are just too effecient and are constantly dirtying up blogs with irrelevant and unwanted comments trying to improve their standing on search engines. All comments on this blog are moderated. I do not censor comments, but I don't approve comments with vulger language or those soliciting products. Most of the time comments are approved within a few hours of being submitted with the only exception when I'm traveling.

Why are you asking for my email address?
The only reason I'm asking for your email address, which isn't required to submit a comment, is to provide a gravatar if you've created an account for yourself and associated your email address with a small image. If you have a gravatar created for the email address you submit, it will appear next to your comment. Otherwise nothing will appear.

What is a gravatar?
A gravatar is a "globally recognized avatar." You can get more information about gravatars, as well as create your own for free, at www.gravatar.com. You can also view my gravatar here.
