Managed Windows Shared Hosting

I love hearing back from customers and former students of my MOSS WCM development class when they launch a new public facing Publishing site. In the last two weeks I've heard back from two class alumni who launched brand new Publishing sites recently that are brand new sites on the platform (they didn't come from MCMS 2002).

Starz Entertainment
space150, an agency, recently launched the new Starz Entertainment site (www.starz.com) that serves as the home for Starz Movie Channel, Encore and few others. This is a cool site with lots of rich media, a very useful search and gigantic movie database. Here's a little word from one of the guys on the project:

“Andrew’s class is the clear choice for bringing development teams up to speed on WCM.  After Andrew’s class our team hit the ground running with everything we needed for building enterprise WCM sites in MOSS 2007.” –James Squires, Tech Lead, space150.

SAF Holland
Another site, SAF Holland (www.safholland.com www.safholland.us), went live this past week. These guys were able to create a slick multilingual solution and pull technical specs of all the different products they offer from a product database throughout the site. Here's a comment from one of the people on the implementation team:

"We were able to complete this site because of the training that we received from you in wcm401.  Everything we did was created as features and solutions which made our SharePoint life much easier." - Russ Smith, SAF Holland

Have you taken my class and have a public facing site you want to share? Let me know!

Gravatar The site (http://www.safholland.com/en.html) really looks very nice. Do you know how was the "Select your Local Website" web-part of field control was implemented? how were those menus implemented? Any details you can share would be nice to know.

Thanks
Ketan

Gravatar The "Select Your Local Website" control on www.safholland.com was created in Flash.

I need to make a correction to the url provided by Andrew. The site at www.safholland.com is not a SharePoint site but was created by a marketing firm in Germany using another content management development tool. The two SharePoint sites that we have launched are at http://www.safholland.us and http://www.safholland.de for USA and Germany, respectively.

On the homepage of both sites, we did implement a custom web part that allows us to insert either a static image or a flash file. To use this web part we just need to put the link to the image or flash file in the properties pane. The image on the USA site is a flash file and the image on the German site is static.

Russ

All Comments Are Filtered & Moderated
Unfortunately comment spammers are just too effecient and are constantly dirtying up blogs with irrelevant and unwanted comments trying to improve their standing on search engines. All comments on this blog are moderated. I do not censor comments, but I don't approve comments with vulger language or those soliciting products. Most of the time comments are approved within a few hours of being submitted with the only exception when I'm traveling.

Why are you asking for my email address?
The only reason I'm asking for your email address, which isn't required to submit a comment, is to provide a gravatar if you've created an account for yourself and associated your email address with a small image. If you have a gravatar created for the email address you submit, it will appear next to your comment. Otherwise nothing will appear.

What is a gravatar?
A gravatar is a "globally recognized avatar." You can get more information about gravatars, as well as create your own for free, at www.gravatar.com. You can also view my gravatar here.
