Triple Boot Goodness on MacBook Pro... now running Vista x64 native AND virtual!

A while back I posted about how I followed Spence's slick triple boot instructions to setup a MacOS Leopard, Vista x64 & Windows Server 2008 install. I love this setup... finally did my first presentations from a native Windows Server 2008 install for my three sessions at TechEd EMEA in Barcelona earlier this month. The performance was second to none... thrilled with what I got.

In that process I screwed something up: I installed Windows Server 2008 first and thus, the bootloader that Windows Server 2008 & Vista share was installed on my D:\[Win2k8] partition. So what's the problem with that? Well, I can't easily image my Win2k8 partition and restore it from Vista because the bootloader is locked as being in use... that's sucks :(. So the fix is to move the boot loader. Well, that's something that's WAY over the head of this developer (yes, I've seen the blog posts that were written for C++ developers who haven't seen the sun in 5 years). The other approach is to pave the partitions and start over (what I plan to do this week/weekend).

Anyway, back to the point of this post... I saw today Spence posted a KILLER article walking you through a slick setup: having a triple boot setup, but being able to boot Vista x64 natively OR as a virtual machine from within Leopard via VMWare Fusion. Before you say "we could do this before", notice I said Vista x64!

Very nice... can't wait to set this up!
