SPConnectionsFall2009

I missed it last year, but looking forward to it this year! The annual SharePoint Connections Fall 2009 show will be in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay November 9-12, 2009. I love Vegas… I’ll be at the SharePoint Conference a few weeks prior (same city & venue), but you just can’t ever get enough Vegas… right? Maybe going there twice in a matter of a few weeks makes up for almost 2yrs away from the city? Hmmm… I can’t do that again! Come on… it *is* where I started this cool event we call SharePint!

For this show I’ve got three breakout sessions along with one post-conference workshop I’m co-presenting with Scot Hillier… all on SharePoint Server 2010!

  • HDV301: Enterprise Content Management in SharePoint Server 2010
  • HDV302: SharePoint 2010 and Services
  • HDV303: SharePoint 2010 Developer Overview
  • Post-conf Workshop (with Scot Hillier) - HPS301: Developers Deep Dive to SharePoint Server 2010

Unfortunately the titles of the sessions & their abstracts are pretty vague as Microsoft has yet to release any details about features, capabilities or much anything else around SharePoint Server 2010. I’ll provide more detail on these sessions in the coming months (please don’t drop a comment asking for SP2010 details… I’m not of liberty to say anything more that’s in this post at this time… watch the SharePoint Team Blog for SP2010 news).

Hope to see you there… check the conference site for more information on speakers & sessions.

Gravatar I'm a SharePoint developer. I have been to a few classes.

Do you currently know if the post-conf workshop will be all day Friday? (Because of budget reasons I have to make my travel plans in the next couple of weeks)

Something you may not can answer: Is there enough new information in 2010 to warrant an "old hat" developer to attending? (again, a question based on budget reasons)

Please check the SharePoint Connections website. It shows the times & schedule for the postcon (yes, it is all day long).

To your other question, no I can't speak specifics but yes, I'm sure there will be plenty to learn in the new version. Otherwise what's the reason of releasing a new version that you've been working on for 3 years?

Gravatar I think the conference is between 10/19-10/22... not 10/9-10/12 as you've stated.

Gravatar Andrew -

If I have the budget to only attend of the two Vegas sharepoint conferences this year (SharePoint Conf or SharePoint Connections), which do you think would be the better bang for the buck?

I am specifically looking for info about SharePoint 2010, developer and implementation training and best practices/tools, and technical content.

Do you have an opinion on this one?

Thanks...
Trevor

Sorry... that's not correct. What I said in the post is correct. Note there are two SharePoint conferences going on around the same time.

Sorry, I can't say right now. The SharePoint Conference hasn't released a session list while the Connections folks have. You certainly won't find anything about best practices on 2010 yet... anyone claiming to be speaking best practices for a solid 6mo after even the release of the product is fooling themselves as it hasn't been in hte field long enough for folks to figure out what works best and what doesnt.

Gravatar Hi...I've just signed up for the conference 10/19-10/22 and the post conference training on 10/23, which is apparently presented by yourself? So now I'm confused! Are you delivering the post-conference training at both events?

Thanks!

Yes... I'm doing post conference workshops at both the SharePoint Conference & SharePoint Connections. One will be with Ted Pattison, the other with Scot Hillier.
