I’ll be presenting at the Indy SharePoint User Group next week… and SharePoint by Day, SharePint by Night afterwards!

Next week I’ll be visiting Indianapolis for the first time and presenting at their SharePoint user group (SPIN) next Wednesday, August 26th 2009. Here’s what I’ll be presenting:

High Performance Features and Solutions on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007
Performance should be one of the top areas of focus on everyone's mind when embarking on a Internet facing Microsoft Office Server 2007 site. In this session we'll look at the built-in caching capabilities in the SharePoint platform, including disk-based and page output caching. In addition we'll take a look at various hot-button issues developers should be aware of when developing components for a public site built on MOSS 2007. Topics include object model techniques, how to properly manage memory in order to avoid the dreaded OutOfMemory exception, key sizing numbers to keep in mind when architecting your implementation and minimizing the page payload to speed up those page load times. After this session, you'll be armed with the power to create high performance and scalable solutions in MOSS 2007!

I'll be there (SPIN and SharePint)... but really, you know that cigar bar is pretty small (like < 10 tables).

You can count me in on both! Never been to the Cigar Bar, so I can't comment on the size, but there's other stuff in the area if we have to hop. Of course, we've done some pretty crowded SharePints in the past... :)

I'm from Ohio and me and a few people from our company office are coming out. Its a 2 hour drive for us, but it will be well worth it. Can't wait!

I'll take responsibility for the SharePint suggestion. Wasn't sure how much uptake there would be on it, so I thought I'd throw out someplace nearby that might not be too busy.

If it looks like we're going to have more than ICB can handle we can call an audible and head to Champps, Claddaugh, the Ale Emporium, or a player to be named later.

This was my first SPIN meeting and the first time I've heard you speak. I enjoyed both.

Have you had a chance to post your slides from your presentation yet? I would like to have a copy of them, specifically the slides detailing the performance advantages of the different querying techniques.
