***NOW AVAILABLE*** MSDN: Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with the .NET Client Object Model

A visual how to I worked on has recently been published on MSDN. The screencast, Accessing SharePoint 2010 Data with the .NET Client Object Model, explains how to leverage the .NET implementation of the SharePoint 2010 client object model.

With each release of Microsoft SharePoint, developers ask for additional web services to simplify reading and writing SharePoint site data from custom code not on the server that is running SharePoint. Instead of building more and more web services, Microsoft introduced in SharePoint 2010 the client object model, which contains a familiar subset of frequently used objects. The client object model is very similar to the SharePoint server object model. This SharePoint Visual How To demonstrates how to use the SharePoint 2010 .NET client object model.

Thanks for this Andrew. Previously in my clients I've built SSIS packages to pump data from Sharepoint lists into SQL Server tables which are then read by SSAS assemblies to filter/secure data. Using the object model, we can now eliminate the SSIS piece to make the whole process much more streamlined.
