This page contains links and resources specific to Web Content Management (WCM). WCM part of a larger Enterprise Content Management (ECM) strategy that's part of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS) 2007. MOSS is built on top of Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) v3.

Microsoft's SharePoint product stack is now so vast, that WCM specific links could easily get lost in the sea of resources. Therefore this page will only contain links specific to WCM and not MOSS or WSS as a whole. If you're looking for links for MOSS or WSS, I've included links to some other link-fests in the General SharePoint Information section within this page.

Some general SharePoint topics are listed here, such as content types and workflow, when I felt they would be of enough interest for WCM site owners, designers, and developers.

Gravatar Nice site. Can you tell Microsoft you're not a Phishing site though as the Suspicious Website warning I keep getting is very annoying.

Gravatar This is a great website, Andrew. I'm interested in your slides from the MSDN Webcast - The Evolution of Web Content Management in the 2007 version of Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. Is it possible to get an editable version of the slides (I only need some of them).

Gravatar Jeff R - The slide deck is available from my speaking page, accessible from the menu at the top of all pages on my side, except the homepage.

Gravatar Hey Andrew,

Thanks for putting together such a rich collection of resources on WSS/MOSS. Your blog has been a great help for me, especially considering that I’m new to the world of Sharepoint and even .NET to an extent (talk about a learning curve!).

I’m in the process of setting up a CMS using MOSS 2007, which following the architecture you propose on your 10/26/2006 post titled “Configuring a Office SharePoint Server 2007 Publishing Site with Dual Authentication Providers and Anonymous Access”. Thanks for this great article, by the way!

My question for you is with regards to workflows as they are applied to lists. Simply put, I’m intrigued by the relationship (or lack thereof) between an “approval” workflow and the switch for requiring content approval for submitted list items (accessible from “versioning settings” for a list). I would like for new list items created/edited by site contributors on the extranet side to go through a simple approval workflow before the new content becomes visible on the internet-facing site. I figured that the first step would be to turn on the content approval requirement in versioning settings. So far so good. The problem is that, even if I create an approval workflow afterwards (I’m using the OOTB template offered by MOSS), Sharepoint seems to ignore the workflow and make the content available on the internet site as soon as someone with approval rights clicks “Approve Item” link on the menu bar across the top of the page where you edit a list item. Besides, if I go to “Workflow Tasks” and approve the workflow started by the list insert/update operation, the operation gets approved but another identical workflow task shows up right underneath the approved one (and this goes on and on every time I approve the workflow).

To put it simply, it appears that the workflow is not playing any role in the process of making a new/edited list item visible or not on the internet site. In fact, unless I hit the “Approve Item” link aforementioned, the item never shows up on the internet site, even if the approval workflow completes. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry for the lengthy e-mail, but it just seems that I’m missing a concept here or maybe I’m not thinking about workflows in the correct fashion. I thank you very, very much in advance for whatever insights you can share with me on this!

Victor
