Got word this week that I have three sessions that are confirmed that I’ll present at TechEd North America 2009 this year in Los Angeles, CA the week of May 11-15, 2009. I’ll be co-presenting two of my sessions with some great folks. In addition, TechEd will be a great week… with lots of great news to share!
Todd Baginski (MVP) and I have an advanced session where we’ll show you how to take the Content Query Web Part and extend it to aggregate content not only across the existing site collection, but also across multiple site collections, web applications, non-SharePoint sites and even remote content sources like Azure! Then Spence Harbar (MVP) and Ryan Duguid (Microsoft) and I will show you how to create an Internet-facing Publishing site from start to finish in a very fast paced and fun session.
Of course there will also be a SharePoint by Day, SharePint by Night event… more details on the timing and venue later though (most likely it will be the Sunday night before the event in case you’re already booking flights).
- OFC401 - Building High Performance Features and Solutions on Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007Performance should be one of the top areas of focus on everyone’s mind when embarking on a Internet facing Microsoft Office Server 2007 site. In this session we’ll look at the built-in caching capabilities in the SharePoint platform, including disk-based and page output caching. In addition we’ll take a look at various hot-button issues developers should be aware of when developing components for a public site built on MOSS 2007. Topics include object model techniques, how to properly manage memory in order to avoid the dreaded OutOfMemory exception, key sizing numbers to keep in mind when architecting your implementation and minimizing the page payload to speed up those page load times. After this session, you’ll be armed with the power to create high performance and scalable solutions in MOSS 2007!
- OFC405 - Extending the Content Query Web Part to Aggregate Data Across Site Collections and External Sources (co-presented with Todd Baginski, MVP)This session will demonstrate how you can aggregate data from multiple site collections and external data sources by creating an extensible data provider. In this session you will learn how to create a provider which aggregates data from multiple site collections with the Content Query Web Part and the SharePoint Search Service, as well as creating custom providers that aggregate data from external sources like Windows Azure.
- OFC303 - Building a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Publishing Site: Real World in Action (co-presented with Spence Harbar, MVP and Ryan Duguid, Microsoft)There’s plenty of information and resources available to developer that want to create Office SharePoint Server 2007 Publishing sites, but not until now has there been something that brings it all together. In this primarily demo heavy and fast-paced session you’ll see Andrew, Ryan and Spence build a brand new Publishing site from the ground up. You’ll see what goes into the architecture decisions such as planning for a high performance site, implementing a multilingual solution using variations and publishing content to an external read-only farm using content deployment.
