Mow the yard? Paint the mailbox? Wash the dog? These are all things you could do on Saturday, August 25th, 2007 if you live in the greater Jacksonville, FL area, but wouldn't you rather be at the JAX Code Camp?

Next Saturday (AUG-25) JAXDUG is hosting yet another all-day Code Camp in downtown Jacksonville, FL at the FCCJ Advanced Technology Center. Like other Code Camps, this one is completely free with tons of great sessions by great regional speakers… not to mention a bunch of freebies to give away!

I'm happy to not only be speaking, but this year I am also sponsoring the Jacksonville Code Camp in a few ways. In addition to tossing a little contribution their way to sponsor the facility, but I'll also be giving a copy away of my most recent SharePoint book during my session, Real Wold SharePoint 2007, and contributing a full licensed copy of Microsoft Office 2007 Ultimate to the great give away at closing ceremony's give-away.

This time we not only have a full track with SharePoint content, but there are other related SharePoint & Office development sessions scattered throughout the agenda. Check out what's on tap for the SharePoint track:

  • Developer's Introduction to SharePoint by Mikhail Dikov
  • What Every SharePoint Developer Should Know - Customization vs. Development by Andrew Connell (MVP & author)
  • Introduction to Web Content Management (WCM) in SharePoint 2007 by John Ross
  • Developing SharePoint 2007 with User Profiles, My Site and Social Networking by Brendon Schwartz (MVP)
  • Building Reusable CAML Queries in C# using CAML.NET by John Holliday (MVP & author)
  • Going Off Road With SharePoint - Using SharePoint from within your own application by Colin Borrowman

Note that the order above is subject to change once the organizers get the agenda posted.

Here are some other talks you might see at the JAX Code Camp (I recommend you watch their site & blog for more info) that are SharePoint / Office developer oriented:

  • Generating Enterprise Content using Windows SharePoint Services and Office Open XML by John Holliday (MVP & author)
  • Office Workflow Solutions: from SharePoint Designer to VSTO “Orcas” by John Holliday (MVP & author)
  • Office Business Applications (OBA) Overview by Dennis Bottjer (MVP)
  • Introduction to Excel Services by David Fekke

Looking to meet up? You'll find me in the SharePoint track for the whole day. I'll also be at the speaker social Friday night (assuming there is one… no word yet) and the pub club after Code Camp (when/where is usually announced in the closing ceremony).
