WMCE Build out: Day 2

This was fun… after getting all the parts installed except for the video card , tuner , CPU , and CPU fan , I realized the Zalman fan I got for the case required something to be installed UNDER the board. Great… so I take everything back out and put it back in after I install the fan brackets.

As you can see below, everything is now installed. I moved the case to my office, hooked it up to a KVM, and hooked it up to power. Booted up just fine! Ran the software that came with the Maxtor drive I got and I’m now setup with a 50GB (OS+programs) and 150GB (music+photos+backups) partition on this disk. Next comes the OS, but I’ve got to start getting ready for work so I’ll start that tonight.

One nice surprise when I turned it on the first time: with a CPU fan, PSU fan, and two 80mm flow fans on the back (without the top of the case on… I left it open for now), it’s very quiet!!! Love the FanMate device that came with the Zalman fan… it has a little box that you attach to the outside of your case which you can use to control the fan speed. Very nice!
