Join me for a packed schedule at the SharePoint Conference North America

In just a few short weeks time, Microsoft’s SharePoint conference of the year will be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, NV. Now it’s worth mentioning this conference, the week of May 21-23, is not the same 10,000+ SharePoint Conference from years ago. This is run by a third party and will be much smaller.

After two days of workshops on the preceding weekend (May 19-20), there will be breakout sessions packed by presentations by developers, IT Pros, business users for all sorts of SharePoint people!

I will personally have quite a packed scheduled at the show presenting a workshop, breakout sessions and hosting a handful of podcast episodes!

Full-Day Workshop (May 20): Mastering the SharePoint Framework

Join me for a full day of my instructor-led workshop version of my on-demand video training course for developers. From the latest registration numbers I’ve seen, I wouldn’t delay too long if you’re on the fence as it’s filling up quite a bit!

The new way Microsoft wants us to customize and extend SharePoint is to use the SharePoint Framework. This model brings client-side development as a first-class development model complete with packaging, deployment and real a full deployment lifecycle. But this model is very different from what traditional SharePoint developers have been used to. This workshop is for developers, both seasoned SharePoint server-side developers and web developers, that want to be immersed in the SharePoint Framework.

You will learn what the SharePoint Framework is all about, what is involved in getting your environment setup to be productive and how to build custom components. We will go from vanilla JavaScript to using popular web frameworks to create client-side web parts, UI extensions, call SharePoint REST APIs & third-party or custom web services. In addition, you will see how you can leverage provided tools, both from Microsoft in the form of APIs and tools as well as the community to manage the lifecycle of your projects, version, upgrade and deploy things the right way.

By the end of the day, after this demo-heavy session, you will be well on your way to being a SharePoint Framework Master!

Breakout Session: Leverage React in SharePoint Framework Solutions

SharePoint Framework solutions can be built using any client-side technology available to developers today. While you could use plain old JavaScript (TypeScript), also known as VanillaJS, why not consider React? Microsoft is not only leveraging React in their components throughout Office 365, but there are a lot of benefits to using React in your SharePoint Framework solutions. Assuming you’re new to React, come learn the basics of adding React to your SharePoint Framework solutions, as well as using some of the popular Fabric React controls from Microsoft and community controls as well!

Breakout Session: Be a SPFx Ninja: with these Performance, Debugging, Logging and Telemetry Tricks!

While you might be a new or seasoned SharePoint Framework (SPFx) developer, but are you a ninja? In this demo heavy session, you will learn tips, tricks and techniques on how to be a SPFx ninja! Learn how to use powerful client-side tools to identify, troubleshoot and resolve memory or performance issues including some cool debugging and logging tricks. We will also cover how to capture, analyze and utilize telemetry activity from your users to proactively improve your client-side solutions!

Microsoft Cloud Show - Tons Interviews & Episodes!

The podcast I co-host with Chris Johnson , the Microsoft Cloud Show will also be there in full effect! We are scheduled to do one live episode each day of the conference.
