Finally the moment I have been waiting for. My book, Advanced Content Management Server Development by Packt Publishing is now available.

Finally the moment I, and the rest of my fantastic co-authors, have waited for. Our book, Advanced Content Management Server Development by Packt Publishing is now available. Here’s what the Packt website has to say about the book:

Advanced Content Management Server Development

Advanced Content Management Server Development

This book has the most in depth-coverage of important MCMS 2002 development topics found anywhere. Each author of the book is a renowned expert in the area.

  • Learn directly from recognized community experts
  • Extensive coverage of the Publishing API (PAPI)
  • Get SharePoint and MCMS working together
  • InfoPath, RSS and hot topics covered
  • In More Detail

What will you find in the book? We show you how to use the Publishing API (PAPI) to build a custom site manager, a ~ton~ of tips & tricks (I can’t stress this enough… this is one killer chapter), common custom placeholders, how to use InfoPath for your authoring environment, wiring up web services to expose the PAPI to outside applications (see: InfoPath), using SharePoint Portal Server as your index/search engine (as well as how to make your MCMS site search friendly), how to publish/share content between MCMS & SharePoint (WSS/SPS)… both using the MCMS Connector and with custom code, as well as the new fad: RSS-enabling your MCMS site.

One thing I’d like to mention about this book. In many books, I find it easy to get lost on what’s going on with a lacking description of what’s going on. Our book is filled with tons of screenshots to make sure things are very obvious.

This has been my first experience writing a book… and there was a LOT more work than I expected, but it’s all paid off. Looking back, I learned a TON more about MCMS, SharePoint, and how to make the two work together than what I knew going into this project. I can’t give enough kudos to my fellow co-authors: Angus Logan , Lim Mei Ying , and Stefan Goßner … I’m honored to have the op to work with some brilliant people. Thanks to Joel Ward for acting as a PM. thanks For you other authors out there, Packt is a great publisher to work with. Special thanks to my wife for putting up with my late nights & weekends I spent working on the book. Thanks to my pups for providing company while burning the midnight oil.
