    Blog: Where Can We Meet Up & My Remaining Schedule for 2014

    I just finished up a big trip where I joined the SharePoint Evolutions Conference Roadshow for the 2nd half of the show and present a few sessions on SharePoint 2013 Workflows, and building SharePoint Apps using AnguarJS and BreezeJS. What a fun experience with so many great speakers and meeting many people who had not been to a SharePoint conference or community event before… at some of our stops up to 70% of the people put themselves in this camp!

    Blog: NOW AVAILABLE - Pluralsight SharePoint 2013 Developer Ramp-Up Series by Critical Path Training

    Yesterday Pluralsight published a 6-part developer ramp-up course for SharePoint 2013 to their on demand catalog. This is the first on-demand SharePoint 2013 developer content out there and is a great complement to the hands-on developer Great SharePoint Adventure 2013 developer course we teach as well. The Pluralsight course was recorded and based on SharePoint 2013 Beta 2 (aka Preview). I’ll get it refreshed with more content & updated for RTM in the coming months, but for now there aren’t many dramatic changes.

    Blog: SharePoint 2013 Developer Roadshow - First stop - Boston!

    However we realize that some consultants can’t afford to be out of the office for a full week much or have limited budgets. To address the needs of those individuals we are announcing a new delivery format that is only two (2) days long. In this scenario students will attend two full days on a deep dive on SharePoint 2013 development consisting of presentations and filled with loads of demos. Each student will receive with a book that contains the presentations with notes (a manual of sorts) as well as all the code samples presented throughout the course of the two days.

    Well now it’s out, SharePoint 2013 beta 2. One of the best parts of this announcement is the fact that they have also lifted their non disclosure agreements (NDAs)… this includes many of us at Critical Path Training! For the third SharePoint release in a row Microsoft selected Critical Path Training to teach their own developers & customers. In March 2011 Microsoft selected three of our senior instructors (Ted Pattison, Scot Hillier & myself Andrew Connell) to research, develop and deliver a 5-day SharePoint 2013 developer course that has been taught to hundreds of customers in the TAP and Ignite programs.

    Blog: MVP Renewed for SharePoint Server

    Gotta love April 1st… this is my anniversary date for my MVP award. You never know if you’re going to have an April Fool’s joke pulled on you or not. Regardless, I got the email this weekend that I was renewed for my 8th year in the MVP program. Guess the joke was that my junk filter caught it first (does it every year!) :P. My first two years were for Content Management Server (CMS) and when CMS was retired in favor of moving the feature set over to the SharePoint platform, I was transitioned over.

    I’ve been a slacker in posting about this cool new resource. Steve Fox over at the Microsoft Developer & Platform Evangelism (DPE) group recently blogged about an update to a cool training resource available for SharePoint developers. In July Microsoft refreshed the SharePoint & Windows Azure Developer Learning Kit which includes labs demonstrating how to integrate the two products. This is a pretty cool concept especially for those who need to break out of the sandbox in environments such as Office 365.

    This past week I did a session in London on customizing the SharePoint 2010 ribbon. It was a pretty deep session where I dug into a lot of the intricacies of modifying the ribbon with contextual tab groups, custom groups, opening dialogs, async callbacks command UI handlers and page components. I got a lot of requests over twitter and email from people who missed the talk either because they went to another session or were not at the show.
