    Blog: Join Me at the Quebec SharePoint User Group on February, 4 2020

    Danger: Presentation cancelled Unfortunately something has come up and I’m unable to be in Montreal the week of this user group. Therefore my presentation had to be cancelled… sorry about this folks! Hey SharePoint developers in Montreal, Canada! I’ll be in town next week and the kind folks at the Quebec SharePoint User’s Group invited me to present while I’m in town.     Blog: Microsoft Ignite 2019 Recap

    Last week, Microsoft held their annual Microsoft Ignite conference in Orlando, Florida. I was there recording interviews for my podcast, the Microsoft Cloud Show, presenting one session on Leveraging React in SharePoint Framework solutions (recording available on that link). This year, I made time to attend a handful of sessions. Here’s a fun fact, I attended more sessions at this year’s conference than all previous four (4) Ignite conferences combined, including all sessions I’ve presented & live podcasts I’ve streamed!

    A few weeks ago I posted that I am going to be in Prague in early December for ESPC 2019 speaking on SharePoint Framework development. Check that post of a change to one of my sessions. One of them was replaced in favor of a new session on setting up automated testing on your SharePoint Framework projects. But that’s not why I am writing this post… Recently I got word that I’ll be at two more conferences in 2019.

    Blog: Join Me at ESPC 2019 for SharePoint Framework Development

    In December later this year, I will be at the European SharePoint, Office 365 & Azure Conference in Prague presenting topics on the SharePoint Framework SharePoint developers. This is my second time with ESPC after joining the show in Copenhagen in December 2018. I’m very much looking forward to this year’s event, just like last year’s conference. It will be my first trip to Prague, a city I’m really looking forward to explore when time allows.

    Blog: JavaScript + SharePoint Framework Summer Camp Calls - July 3 & July 18, 2019!

    Microsoft regularly hosts three different community calls under the SharePoint PnP program on various topics. You can learn all about these from the community page in the SharePoint docs at SharePoint Development > Community > Community Calls. These calls are always recorded and published to the SharePoint PnP YouTube channel. However, during the month of July 2019 schedules are getting a bit out of control with various vacations where no one from the Microsoft side can host the calls and start the recordings.

    In about two months, I am looking forward to participating in the North American Collaboration Summit conference. This conference in Branson, Missouri over two days (March 2-3, 2018) was formerly known as SharePointalooza. It’s situated in the Ozarks at a fun location. The show is incredibly affordable with tickets starting at $65, something they can afford to do based on their non-profit status. You’ll hear from experts coming in to present from around the world on various things for developers, IT Pros, information workers, power users and business decision makers.

    Blog: My Collab365 Session on Modern UI Extensions with the SharePoint Framework

    Earlier this week I participated in the Collab365 Global Conference for the first time. This show is a global conference with a unique format. Presenters record their sessions ahead of time and everything is presented live over the course of a full 24hours. During the session delivery, the presenters jump into their session chat and answer questions live with the attendees.The event was very well run and I was honored to be a part of it.

    Earlier this week I had the opportunity to present a few sessions at the SPTechCon conference in Austin, Texas. Unfortunately, my trip home hasn’t gone as planned as I’m not on my third flight option after two cancellations due to the bad weather in the southeast US still impacting flights… so I had time to get this post done. One of my sessions covered the Microsoft Graph. This session covered the basics of getting started with the Microsoft Graph including app registration, authentication & understanding what it was.

    I’m excited to be in Chicago, IL in early May 2017 to be speaking at the GOTO Chicago conference. The GOTO Conference is a software development conference designed for developers, team leads, architects, and project managers and is organized “for developers by developers”. As software developers and architects ourselves, we wanted to create a great social and learning experience. At GOTO Chicago, I am conducting a full day workshop on getting developers up to speed on Angular 2 (now just called Angular, but most still think of it as Angular 2).

    Earlier this week I had the awesome opportunity to sit down and talk to co-hosts Richard diZerega and Andrew Coates of the Office 365 Developer Podcast in an interview they published yesterday: Episode 112 with Andrew Connell on Technical Training. During our conversation, I shared my experiences in the technical training world from the last 10 years of presenting at conferences, teaching in-person classroom course deliveries and online courses. We had a great discussion on the challenges related to technical training and how each of us deals with these challenges.

He penned the post after a interesting Twitter storm flared up from a simple tweet he pushed out a few weeks prior: As a conference speaker, about the most annoying thing you can ask me to do is to use your slide template... — Troy Hunt (@troyhunt) December 16, 2016 The reaction from his post was interesting to watch, especially on Facebook where many of the responses were restricted to viewable by just the responder’s friends.

    Blog: Simplifying Technical Presentations with Docker

    This week I’m presenting a session at the 2016 Boston installment of SPTechCon. At this show I’m doing two presentations, one of which shows how to build an Office Add-in for Outlook using Angular 2. As a developer, I find the most effective way to learn is to show someone what the goal or final result of a demo will be, then to go back and do it. A huge bonus is when I can walk away with the implementation & even replicate the demo quickly and easily myself.

    Are you looking for a great & idealy-sized conference that’s focused on Office 365 & SharePoint?
