    One of my favorite SharePoint related conferences of the year is easily the SPTechCon show that’s held twice a year. They have a show in San Francisco, CA in the first part of the year and another in Boston in the latter part of the year. This year’s San Francisco, CA show is held April 22-25, 2014 and I’ve been honored to ask to present as well as be one of the two keynote speakers at the show!

    Here we go again, another great SharePoint conference in the desert in Las Vegas in just under two months time from now! The SharePoint Conference 2014 will be held at the Venetial Hotel in Las Vegas from March 3-6, 2014. It is clearly THE place to learn what’s coming down the pipe from Microsoft with everything related to SharePoint. And if you didn’t see the news that came out yesterday, the attendee party is going to be high-octane at the Las Vegas motor speedway!

    Blog: I'm Presenting at SPTechCon in Boston this August

    In just a few months from now the annual SharePoint Technology Conference, aka SPTechCon , will be held again in downtown Boston, one of the best cities in the world. At this show I’m going to present three sessions which are: Building SharePoint Hosted Apps as Single Page Apps Unlike cloud apps, SharePoint Hosted Apps cannot have a server footprint on the SharePoint host. Instead all custom business logic is manifested and runs within the user’s browser.

    Ever since the original post when I said I was going to make the changes to my site , the number one question I kept hearing was “why Orchard” as the engine for the new site. Of course the next question I got is “why not SharePoint” and of course “why not Wordpress.” I found it interesting was that no one asked “why Azure?” I guess that was the no brainer…

There’s both an IT Pro and a developer class complete with recordings you can watch today.     Blog: SP2013 WCM: Forget Everything You Knew About SharePoint WCM!

    Microsoft has now announced the latest release of SharePoint 2013 and it’s filled with lots of stuff. As I talked about in a previous post , you’ll see there are a ton of changes and additions to the platform dedicated to bringing SharePoint 2013 to a great cloud-based platform with robust capabilities. There are a few things that are dedicated to only working in an on-premises deployment. In my eyes, there are three things that aren’t included in the cloud or their cloud offering won’t touch what you can do on-premise.

Microsoft has included a robust taxonomy API in SharePoint 2010 that can be leveraged in custom solutions.

    Blog: MVP Renewed for SharePoint Server

    Gotta love April 1st… this is my anniversary date for my MVP award. You never know if you’re going to have an April Fool’s joke pulled on you or not. Regardless, I got the email this weekend that I was renewed for my 8th year in the MVP program. Guess the joke was that my junk filter caught it first (does it every year!) :P. My first two years were for Content Management Server (CMS) and when CMS was retired in favor of moving the feature set over to the SharePoint platform, I was transitioned over.

    Yes, that’s right… we’re taking our very popular developer class, The Great SharePoint Adventure 2010, to Oslo Norway in early 2012. This class is hosted by glasspaper in Oslo, Norway the week of January 16-20, 2012. I’m very much looking forward to my return trip to Norway (should be quite interesting for a native Floridian to be in Norway in the cold of winter!)… let’s just hope this time around there aren’t any volcano issues like I had a few years back!

    Blog: SharePoint 2010 Service Pack 1 Now Available-What's New?

    The SharePoint team announced on their blog today that SP1 for SharePoint 2010 is now available for download . Aside from the typical security rollups, there were a few things that were added in this release such as: Added Support for Google Chrome Shallow Copy - Related to RBS, this is a migration technique where structured data within a site collection is moved across content DBs while the unstructured data remains untouched in the configured BLOB store.
