    Blog: Script to Help with SharePoint 2013 Workflow Debugging

    A few weeks back I blogged how to setup your SharePoint 2013 box to debug workflows and then showed how using that technique it really helped with an issue I was having . One aspect of doing this workflow is you have to fire up Fiddler, then recycle the workflow & SharePoint services so when they come back up, traffic goes through Fiddler. The trick is when you close Fiddler, you need should recycle those services so they aren’t stuck passing through some non existent process (Fiddler).

    The sample workflow is bound to a list named Customers. After the user enters a value for CustomerID, they can manually run the workflow. The workflow uses the CustomerID to search for the customer using the public Northwind sample OData service.

    Blog: SharePoint 2013-What's new with Workflow

    Fundamentally, this is a MAJOR architectural change from previous versions of SharePoint. Previously SharePoint hosted the .NET Workflow Foundation Runtime. This mean that workflow was a native part of SharePoint. Many customers experienced issues with scale and some workflows simply being dropped. For me workflows were always a bit of a pain and the story was convoluted before SharePoint 2013… but everything changes now! Microsoft has taken a completely new approach that is very friendly to the cloud and on-premises in a uniform story.
